Thank you, Charles, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you, too (I seriously hope that it won't be Donald Trump for the US...). A VERY nice and pretty pic, Charles, she is SO sweet!!!

Merry Christmas one and all...have a nice holiday with your loved ones, and come back safe...remember there are FEW things you do more dangerous then driving...(I am always reminded of an Asian medical resident who had a crush on me and was legit SCARED as I headed out the door after a Christmas party...she gave me a hug and said;'Take it EASY this is a CHRISTIAN country and this is CHRISTMAS...that means just about EVERYONE out there tonight is going to be DRUNK OUT OF THEIR MINDS...) Okay, great for a laugh, but she had a point, no matter how misguided...
Anyway, Grack, don't worry about Trump...he'll fold the tent and be long gone by convention...and if he DOES hang around...the numbers favour Clinton...unless she shoots a man in Reno just to watch him die, the presidency should be hers...(The numbers I speak of: by next November, the number of FEMALE, BLACK and UNDER 30 voters will total 81%. One poll I saw asked in KENTUCKY who they favoured...Trump or Clinton...she took the state...the first time in 20 years a Democrat has in a poll....
It's going to be fine.
Have a nice Christmas and New Year, everyone...

Merry Christmas everybody. Just read my fearless predictions from last year about the election. Whoo boy. Only after did I remember a great quote from Dan Rowan. He used to be the front half of Rownan and Martin...the guys who starred in LAUGH IN. (He had the moustache.) Anyway, Dick and Dan got their start performing for gamblers in second tier casinos in Vegas who had lost all their money. Do that for a while, and you get a pretty good handle on how a lot of people think. Dan didn't live to see Trump win, but his comment rings true: "America no longer requires their politicians to be honest. Only entertaining."
Anyway, not a bad holiday up here. Got the daughter and grand daughter over for Christmas feast, and I get to be the Good Husband and bought the Little Woman DIXIE CHICKS tickets.
My favourite line of the year; A client was asking for something, and I replied that I wanted a dream date with Winona Ryder, how likely was that? They just looked at me and reminded me I'm married. "Yeah, I know. " I replied. "And I can't date superstars the wife hasn't met yet. She also has to have a date with Dwayne the Rock Johnson at the same time. How LIKELY is it that we can get both of them available on the same night?"
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Drive safe and come back for 2017.

She also has to have a date with Dwayne the Rock Johnson at the same time. Simple, all she has to do is to take the Disney version. Truly, as we go on to the Trump era, I hope Johnson survives as one of the Obama era's best pop cultural remnants. Now most of the films he headlines aren't that great and he hasn't managed to work with as many great filmmakers as other action men of the past, but I still find him valuable for being a new kind of action man: a break with both the stoic, tough white males of the past and the smart mouthed, sexually aggressive black males. Instead, we get a mixed-race goofball everyman/gym buddy who no matter how formidable in combat, no matter how charismatic his persona, is allowed to be a little silly, sensitive, and sentimental. He tells the audience that it's okay to be forthcoming about their emotions, and that having biceps the size of Florida doesn't mean that you won't feel hurt, scared or vulnerable. That's a message that I hope carries on both in his films, and of those who come after.

This is my first Christmas without Mom, she died Feb 25th, and it's just as rough as I imagined. A tent was placed over her final resting place on a cold, clear, day. Towards the end of the service the wind kicked up fierce and I could see the tent stakes bending and almost sweating. I thought, 'yeah, Mom, Give'em Hell'! And then out of the crystal clear sky it started to snow. These small white pellets, and it all seemed to be happening inside of a shaken snow globe.
Merry Christmas & A Happy New Years to you all.

Glad to hear that mom got the last word in...sorry for your loss, though. It's probably both a good and bad thing that the memories never leave. I find you can just live with them a bit better as time goes on. Musically, my mom's big fave was the JULIE ANDREWS CHRISTMAS ALBUM with Andre Previn.
Yeah. I know.
It's been years since she passed and I think I'll get around to playing the whole thing maybe next year. That and a guy called John Gary. He's even more obscure...pretty much totally forgotten.
As it is, I heard one of the Julie Andrews songs on the supermarket sound system about a week Before Impact and just froze in my tracks....the album is rarely heard now, when you compare it to Nat King Cole or Burl Ives, so it really stuck out. Suddenly I was an 11 year old kid again. And that was a good and a bad thing.
Take care. Take it slowly. This is a wild time of year. Everybody hears that, but some forget AFTER the Christmas/New Year Silly Season has come to end there is still a lot of depressive sting left in January and February. Keep the Buster Keaton handy.
