I just watched the 1991 movie "Hook", and sure Julia Roberts was as cute as could be as Tinkerbell. But I really think Winona would of been perfect in that role. -------- Rusty

I would not have wanted her to work in Spielberg's worst film, or so it was received upon its opening. End of story.

Sure "Hook" isn't that great of a movie. ---- But 'just imagining' our lovely Winona Ryder playing the part of Tinkerbell, you wonder how much better the movie would of been received. ----- Afterall Winona Ryder has had the word "Pixie" used, from time to time, when someone describes her beauty. And in 1991, barely out of her teens, Winona really was a cute pixie. ---- Rusty

She would have been great, but I worry about the cost..Julia is/was highly sensitive and creative..ring any bells? They had her in a warehouse in England for WEEKS doing all this stuff around oversize props. Big Steve was having trouble with the production, and for once could not pull a deal out of his thumb that would shift the blame or make it the best possible world for him. So he took it out on her. Lots and lots of retakes. She was also by herself for days and days and days. Robin Williams shows up to do his scenes. She runs and hugs him and won't stop crying. He turns to Speilburg and in a voice of total ice asks WHAT he had done to her..From then on, he stayed around and did a virtual private show to keep her from going totally off the deep end..and from the stories on set, gritted his teeth in frustration during all of it over her treatment before he got there.. The movie tanked. Big Steve blamed Julia, said she was DIFFICULT. This put her in the desert for years. No good roles when the biggest guy in Hollywood says you can't cut it. Remember "I Love Trouble' with Nick Nolte?Williams, to a lesser extent also found work a llttle tougher to get..but nothing like Juila's exile. To this day, Roberts and Steve are not exactly friends. And come to think of it, neither is Steve or Robin. Would Steve have blamed Ryder? I think so. Would she have cracked under the tough conditons? It's not a Timex watch torture test. I don't want her to have to find out. Movies are not worth peoples health. So yeah, the outfit would have been nice, and her flyng around, but I choke up just THINKING of her flying into Robins' arms saying no one would even TALK to her for days...

Ludivine Sagnier was the best Tinkerbell, she was just perfect, she is blonde and petite. Ms. Roberts is a good actress, maybe misscast for that film, Hook wasn't great at all, only Maggie Smith save some few moments.

Okay, not a great movie, but it had a wonderful moment: when the pirates were playing a baseball game, someone shouted 'Watch out, he's stealing second base!' The catcher then takes out a flintlock pistol and fires at the baserunner. A hilarious Spielberg moment.
No, Winona is not a tinkerbell. C'mon people.

Had a chance to bounce the idea off a couple of people the other day at a lunch..they said they could see her doing it, and she would be good, all nice and small and sweetness and moonbeams..but if Spielberg gave her any crap they could SEE her grabbing him by the neck during a smoke break and give him the works with that STARE you can sometimes see..YOU KNOW.. the hacked off WINONA RYDER TAKE NO PRISONERS stare.. Now THAT to me, was the best thought of all. A candid shot of her in Tinkerbell garb, with a cig lit up, not thinking, while she takes a puff..maybe also on the phone..that would have made a great poster..with the caption:"Mondays are a b#tch."

Was just reminded of this thread when I saw the picture below. Picture of Winona, Millie Bobby Brown and Emma Roberts (Julia's niece, who you can see now in AMERICAN HORROR STORY).
