"The Crucible" is my all-time favorite WR movie. Her performance was Oscar-caliber, regardless of the snub.

I voted "excellent". One of Noni's finest dramatic performances. The fact that Arthur Miller called her the best Abigail in what, 40 years of actresses doing the role, is impressive. Great work Noni!!!

What is really bad: it's not available on DVD. I just checked Amazon.com for Winona Ryder movies on DVD and they have "The Crucible" and "Night on Earth" listed as "Not yet released --- sign up to pre-order" ----- It would be great to see those movies on DVD ------ Rusty

Highway robbery the year she did not get the Oscar for this one. She kicks out the jams and is bad in this one. Amazing, and it just keeps getting larger in stature.

I voted excellent.
I remember the scene when noni has the blood on the mouth. Great!
Also Daniel Day-Lewis is great, the scene when he shriek his name against the judges.
Great noni’s performance and very good screenplay!

Voted excellent. She sure is remarkable in this one. The film got excellent reviews here in France though it hardly was a hit. But it helped to make her reputation of being an artist that takes risky and challenging roles.
PS: there's no way I can add anything special about her ears except that i remember they were not so visible because of that hair bonnet. Damn ;D

Dilelle and Gaffa, it's great that you both voted excellent for "The Crucible" Winona was great in the movie, but a bit of trivia, listen to her accent change during a couple of scenes. ---------- Rusty

Great, I mean had this impression of Noni as a "fox" for some time, and this movie just proved it. One of Noni's greatest strengths is her ability to allow more than one thing going on in her performance. She's one of the slyest actors around. And here she just proved how well she did sly and manipulative.
I can see why someone like Jen would find Abigail "awesome"...in a perverse way she's probably the closest that sociopolitical climate could have come to female empowerment...
THE CRUCIBLE was a study play in high school, and when was asked by my teacher "How many have seen the movie?" I was among the few who raised my hand. Asked again, "How many like Winona Ryder?", some left with hands in the air, more raised their hands. Finally, "How many watched the movie FOR Winona Ryder?" All those who had seen the film and raised their hands back up.
The teacher's reply, and it was a "she":
"I don't blame you. She is a very beautiful woman."
