Geez...how did I miss this thread? Grazie for bringing it back to life, massimo.
I have too many to list, but..
I'll start with the one I listened to just today:
Patton by Jerry Goldsmith. The Flim-Flam Man, and Hoosiers, also by Goldsmith.
Twin Peaks and The Straight Story by Angelo Badalamenti. To Kill A Mockingbird, The Magnificent Seven and West Side Story by Elmer Bernstein. Midnight Cowboy by John Barry Star Wars by John Williams Robinson Crusoe On Mars by Nathan Van Cleave. Cool Hand Luke by Lalo Schifrin
Music that enhances the film, not to sell records.

And cool hand Luke? In Italy we know it with the name Nick . I don't know why some translate here are so far from original. Do you remember Snake Plinski in "1997"?Here is know like Iena Plinski(Hyena in english). I can't understand,Kurt Russell never laugh in all film... .

Sorry all but come back to mine mind a little at a time ...other special soundtracks are for me those of Popol Vuh,a deutsch group that made misics for Werner Herzog's firsts films. In partcular the soundtracks of Nosferatu and Aguirre are specials.I would recommend Hosianna Mantra too. An other I love so much is the piece of Barber"Adagio for swing"from Platoon...so sad, when I see sequence of Elia's death(W.Dafoe)I cry still now . Phill,I don't knew before Robinson Crusoe On Mars...it's a good piece . Thank you make me know it.

Others nice soundtracks,"Prospero's book" by Michael Nyman from the film of Peter Greenaway;"Last of Mohican"have got an endearing simphony, but I find the film a little tawdry;last evening I saw "Only Lovers Rest Alive"of J. Jarmush, for me a very good film with a superlative soundtrack.

I should learn to post videos from YouTube...sooner or later. Citing a film The Lady loves I'd like to mention Bill Conti for "Gloria" of Cassevetes, him soundscontribute from the begin to create that tipical New Yorker 70's atmosphere I love so much;I consider this movie almost an "Taxi Driver" at fem mode. After also soundtrack of "Duellist" of R. Scott composed by Howard Blake I find always relevant at nice pictures. In "Cat people" of Paul Schrader Giorgio Moroder over the collaboration with the Great David Bowie, composed 2 perfect pieces to identify this 2 wonderful characters: "Irina's theme" for Nastassja Kinski "Paul's theme" for Malcolm Mc Dowell. Considering something from mine country I'd like to remember the sequence with headlines of "900" of Bertolucci (how I miss you BerniBert!);this is only a simple zoom-out from the painting of Pelizza Da Volpedo of begin 1900,"the Fourth State". Simphony is composed by Morricone(for a change) and since "Fourth State" is one of mine favourite painting when I see this begin I think to feel me like can feel Michael when he see the home-run in final of "Natural";exciting, times of redemption! .

Instead was Armando Trovajoli(another composer with immense repertoire) to composed the themes for "Brutti, sporchi e cattivi"(I think "Down and dirty" in USA). It is the Scola's film won palm in Cannes in 76,is always the same motif only repeated in ironic or tragic way, depending on different periods of the film;when I see this movie comes to mine mind the masks of classical Greece Theatre. Listen the laughable version and see how much are beasts the character give me the giggles .... But final sequence with pregnant young girl,S.Peter's dome in the background and the melody in blue key break mine heart in 2

By the way of films with The Little Biggest Actres,I noticed that have been no mentioned some pieces I consider powerful(one in particular). Jack Nitzsche, unforgettable in "Someone flow" of M. Forman,in "Mermaids" created an atmosphere...where all is almost good as a manger . American quilt, very beautyful the combination of "Trovatore" of Verdi and the passional "crescendo" from young Emma and her unfaithfull husband sure that she makes a man want to...painting .
