i saw reality bites and alien 4...but it all started with GI... Vulcan Nonibird, so it took you sometime to really become a real admirer of Winona? ---- Like I said in a previous post, I was smitten at once when I saw her in "Beetlejuice". I mean it, there has never been an actress that my admiration has grown so much for as Winona Ryder as the years go by. ------ Isn't it great to be a fan of Winona ----- Rusty

Oh yeah, you can say Noni has actually sort of changed my tastes in the opposite sex altogether. I mean after seeing Noni it seems that I'm starting to target actresses with her brand of delicate, patrician, thoughtful beauty whenever I see them, recent examples include Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson. Man, in fact for a Chinese I seem to have a disproportionate taste for Western women, maybe it's the same reason why guys like Rupert Murdoch and Gene Hackman covet Asian women too... all I am saying is: BEWARE THE YELLOW PERIL!!!

ah, here we go, intertwining two posts...imayne, you asked about individualism on the other thread, and it sort of relates to this one as well... I was there pretty much from the ground floor...I never saw sqauredance, but I did see Lucas, and the notices here in Canada were great...Beetlejuice made her a star, but when I became a real fan was when she turned down the role in Godfather 3. To me, that was the bravest thing I had seen anybody do in a long time. (Remember that at the time, pre-production...the movie did not look like it would be a stink bomb) I mean, given the scope of the thing, she could have done a couple of red hot love scenes with Andy and died on the steps of the Opera house. Everybody would have fallen apart watching her death scene and they would have had to have sold kleenex outside the box office.. and the Oscar would have been probably hers...In time, people would have figured out it was for the wrong movie and the wrong reasons, and there would have been a backlash, but she still would have had her name on it... Instead, she turns her back on the thing and walks...for her health, for her integrity, for a lot of reasons...and then I started to take her seriously...this wasn't Marlon turning the thing down...this wasn't Berry or Virginia Slim Paltrow pretending they hadn't even THOUGHT they might win and were SO surprized...this was an actor deciding to do something different...and walking away from an almost guaranteed blockbuster she could have created with just her personality alone... that was something, man...

I started getting interested about Winona after watching on TV "The House Of The Spirits" in 1994 if i remember well. I had seen her before in some other movies and i liked her. At that night i fell in love with her. I remember i was watching the movie and i was thinking that she must be the most beautiful woman i had ever seen. The problem is that i didn't know her name! So, after the movie finished i went to sleep (I finally managed to sleep after many tries...) The other day i woke up at 7:30 for school and the first thing that i did was to search for the TV magazine. I wanted to find out how that beautiful lady that i had seen the former night was called! I found it in my mother's bedroom so i searched the program of the former day. I found the movie, the name of the director and the cast. There were 5 names at the cast. Jeremy Airons:" Ok this is the father let's look the other names". Meryl Streep:" I know her, she is a well known actress, she is the mother". The fifth name was Antonio Banderas, it was... obvious that this was not what i was looking for. So, there were still 2 names. The third was Glenn Glose and the fourth was Winona Ryder. There was a big problem here, but i was lucky because at the right of the article about the movie, there was a pic of a woman saying Glenn Glose. There was one name left. "So, this is how she is called: Winona Ryder". Then, i went to eat my breakfast.

The first movie I saw Noni in was Lucas when it came out on cable back in 1987 or 1988. She played the part with such compassion for Lucas (Cory Haim) it was hard not to love her even when she was an unknown actress... She has an aire about her that makes her like your best friend and really has a passion for the things she loves and that you care about! She has a way of showing all these qualities (without being mushy or fake like so many actors do) because they are really a part of her and the way she lives her life. Every movie from that point on shows this in some fashion or another. I am glad that she chooses the movies she wants to make because of the writers, directors, story etc...because that is what is going to give her an acting career for as long as she wants!
She always has my blessings!!!

I first saw her on newspaper because of the shoplifting. I found I have never seen such a pretty lady as Winona and I began to love her from then.

Chern, all roads lead to Noni. Says a lot about a woman when the first thing you notice even when she's in court is how lovely she is.

Today is Noniers birthday, a fan who hasn't visited the group since 2003. ----- This topic. which was the last time Noniers posted a message on, is a blast from the past with posts from members who are long gone. They expressed their love of our Winona Ryder and it was a treat to read their thoughts once more. ----- Rusty

Bram Stoker's Dracula. Then I shortly went back in time again to the 80s to catch up with those (seems I always somehow go back there). And, of course, I went forward from there...until I slowed down, considerably, recently. Yeah, time (and true life) changes everything.
But, every now and again, I still travel back to see her...
