BTW also check out this documentary where some known faces from that era give their thoughts and memories of 80s horror.

Say, do adult children still collect such things? (just kidding - I understand they can be minor investments) Are these particular 'Pops!' that popular? Or just in general? I mean, I still see Legos are, though. Also, I wonder if they have made ST action figures like they did with Star Wars, The X-Files and Game of Thrones, etc. (I haven't checked yet).
Anyhow, I assume they have mined every type of toy or memorabilia style on the planet by now.
Btw, I just finished watching ST3 last night. It was definetly better than S2. Not that that season was terrible or anything.

So, before we continue guys, I'd just like everyone to share some of their favorite movies from the era that STRANGER THINGS is paying tribute to: 80s horror, sci-fi and teen adventure movies. Preferably some of those that are less well-known. If anything, I guess this series just shows that many are indeed craving for a lot of features of movies back then: organic and practical effects rather than CGI, everyman protagonists, and maybe lots of synth.
I'll just throw here three that I liked and that aren't as well known now, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW and REAL GENIUS.
Though I love the irony of one casting fact involving this series: Winona is being cast in a series in a genre that she was praised for NEVER DOING in the decade that it was set in. Yeah I know she was in BEETLEJUICE and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS but those were memorable because they were so ATYPICAL for their time, and still are now.

Why do any related films to ST have to NOW be lesser known? What's wrong with how all those other 80s popular films have been going socially with their connections or similarites? Anyhow, those three films you mentioned we're actually horrible when I tried to view them eons ago (with exception to some of Real Genius - I like Kilmer) So, then, that is why (again terrible) they're lesser known now, and then, to tell you truth. I guess this idea somehow feeds your nerd-ego coolness as does those other social ganda's of yours.
BTW, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you enlighten us on what similarities are in those films that are taken from them and then transposed to effect to Stranger Things.

No, not all films related to ST HAVE TO BE lesser known now, it's just about how quickly films can be forgotten/underappreciated at the time. Most films have their supporters, and I'm sure you have a few films you like that no one else does either. My point is that I feel STRANGER THINGS taps into a deep need in the sort of entertainment we're getting, that in an age of superheroes and dystopias and endless CGI, what people are yearning for is practical and organic effects and everypersons as heroes and maybe, just a little bit of synth. And the 80s were the age where practical and organic effects hit their peak when it came to cinema. It's still impressive how slimy and snotty and gooey and icky so much of the stuff from then looks, and all more effective than later CGI. And speaking of influences from the three I listed, for me 80s horror like a lot from that decade is driven by the subconscious desire to exorcise the ghosts of Vietnam, and so it probably is no coincidence many of the titles from that time involved being holed up in massive tunnel networks or enclosed spaces (with echoes of Cu Chi) where an implacable foe was just willing to grab and devour you from the shadows. STRANGER THINGS of course is mostly pretty much about that, as is one of the titles I listed, PRINCE OF DARKNESS. Not that the others remind me of STRANGER THINGS per se, but they are just examples of an 80s horror and a teen adventure I liked. THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW was a little more than what you got from the usual horror movie in that it was a sobering examination of political repression in the guise of a zombie film, rooting the genre back into its past of slavery and exploitation. And REAL GENIUS was just a good time about kids saving the world FOR SCIENCE...showing ordinary kids engaging in (albeit exaggerated) feats of scientific can-do. Get that feeling in most scenes involving the Hawkins AV Club kids.

Ok, now my first thoughts on the show:
Man, the show is JUST SO SURREAL whenever Maya Hawke or Jake Busey are on. She looks so much like her mom, and he like his dad, it's like the show dug a wormhole in time and regurgitated younger versions of their parents, even more when you know both of whom DID see their careers take off around the show's time period after all.

This is hypnotic in entirely how random the faces behind the women's national team are. Notice Gaten Matarazzo and Sadie Sink next to Steve Carell for God knows what reason.

And yes,I'm living in the past often . I'm watching in this evenings ST3 and it's intriguing me,Winona is like ever convincing and well knit with Harbour. In pairs are funny. The only contraindication is to see this serial makes me want to see more films with her in more central role(like "Letter" or "Little Woman" for example).

Ho anche giocato con Lego quando ero molto giovane, ma non così tanto come gli altri bambini. Ero più interessato a guardare T.V e fare STRANGE THINGS all'aperto come esplorare attraverso i boschi e così via. Sii buono, Massimo!

Anyway, I'm about halfway through the season, and please someone tell me if he or she agrees that this may be the funniest season of the entire show so far. That or my sense of humor is replicated by no one else.
SWIPE FOR SPOILERS
Good Lord, this season is basically a live-action Rocky and Bullwinkle where an elaborate but needlessly complicated plan by Fearless Leader to conquer the United States is foiled by a cast of smalltown goofballs out of Frostbite Falls, Minnesota Hawkins, Indiana, and that ends in Boris Alexei trying to defect.

But I remember after we saw the film,I and 2 mine friends made 3 suit like the Ghostbusters and we introduced ourselves in abandoned homes or factories like the boys in Stranger Think 3. We had 2 walkie-talkie,3 torches and backpacks full of...construction tools! We were looking ectoplasm sostance with a little metaldetctor that use electricians to find cables in the wall . Few resources,so much imagination...in true never seen a ghost,we found so many syringes and condoms. We remain human Michael !
