I just watched the movie and wondered what any of our members, who love the Three Stooges, think about the movie. ----- Rusty

Voted yes. It was ok, Rusty. What did you think?
Not sure why the film was made though. Outside of money. I admit to laughing to tears at the Bell Tower and Polar Bear Tank sequences. And Kate Upton was scrumptiously good. Jennifer Hudson seemed embarrassed a lot. And it was clever to present it as 3 short films.
I'll stretch it, knucklehead, and give it 2 and half outta 5 Nonis.

I really enjoyed the movie. ----- I loved the scene when the kids start singing, I'm saying to myself "Oh no, this is annoying", and a few seconds later the nun tells them to stop it. My thoughts exactly. That was so funny. ----- The best part of the movie was Will Sasso playing Curley. He was absolutely great portraying my favorite stooge. ---------- And on the subject of The Three Stooges, the entire collection of The Three Stooges shorts were released on DVD from December 2007 to June 2010 at $20 per boxed sets. ----- Son-of-a-gun, last month all eight sets, plus "Rare Treasures from the Columbia Pictures Vault" an extra three DVDs with two movies, 28 Columbia shorts with Shemp, Joe Besser and Joe DeRita and three Three Stooges cartoons from the thirties came out on DVD. ----- All for just $44!!!!! ----- If a person only knew they would re-release the shorts, at such a great price, I could of saved $120. ----- But it doesn't hurt to have an extra set of the shorts just in case you'd ever scratch one of the DVDs. ----- ----- Rusty

I couldn't do it. I could not, would not go to the theatres and give them my money. I'll wait until cable, but I didn't want to ENCOURAGE them. Maybe THIS ONE was okay, but I'm tired of remakes that kill my old memories and make me want to scream;"DIMWITS...you ARE RUINING the ORIGINAL" to the screen.
I mean, for me, there is a special place in HELL reserved for the guys who destroyed SGT. BILKO and THE PINK PANTHER and WILD WILD WEST. And the list just goes on...
BUT that was good news to hear about the boxed sets, Rusty.

I couldn't do it. I could not, would not go to the theatres and give them my money. Just to set the record straight. I watched it for free.
Rusty! Who has The Collection for $44? Amazon is at $62 right now.

Phil, the Three Stooges collection is being sold at Best Buy for $44. That is one great DVD bargain! ------ And bigdaddy I have been a fan of the Wild Wild West and The Phil Silvers Show all my life. I agree that the movie version of The Wild Wild West didn't stick to the original TV series in one way. James West and Artemus Gordon were really close and worked well together in the TV series, but in the movie they are constantly getting antagonistic between each other and that spoiled it for me. It was annoying. ----- As for Sgt Bilko, I really enjoyed it. The movie really had the feel of The Phil Silvers Show. ----- What made you dislike it? ----- Rusty

i guess the idea of someone trying to replace Phil Silvers. He was so subtle and gifted...like that episode you showed to us a year or so back...when he goes to the friends house and they've changed completely and he is just GAPE jawed and what makes you laugh is what he DOESN'T say... He also knew when to play it way over the top...like when he LITERALLY salivates while Jonathan Winters is telling him what he knows about the money in MAD WORLD and he drools and smiles like a wolf...
so sad no one remembers him...or at least few people...buddy of mine keeps getting mistaken for a buddhist when he wears his Sgt Bilko shirt to Denny's...they think he has the Dali Lama on..
And yeah, WILD WILD WEST should have been left alone..Conrad could do so much with just a slide long glance..

Yes there is just one real Sgt. Bilko ----- Phil Silvers starring in "The Phil Silvers Show" ----- The good news is season one was released on DVD by Paramount back in 2010. The bad news is there is no sign of season two, three and four on DVD yet. ----- The same thing happened with "Saturday Night Live", the first five seasons were released on DVD from 2006 to 2009 and that's all. That stinks, I really want to complete my "The Phil Silvers Show" collection. ----- Rusty

I just finished watching disc two (volume 4 1943-1945) from the $44 Three Stooges collection. ----- One episode Dizzy Pilots, makes me remember times long past. ----- When VHS and Betamax video tape machines came out back in 1978, the price of pre-recorded tapes was outrageous. ----- In 1980 some of the Three Stooges shorts were released on tape. ----- I bought a tape which had "Dizzy Pilots", "A Bird in the Head" and "Three Sappy People" for about $25. OUCH, an outrageous price compared to today's prices for videos. ----- Back to present time ----- It's amazing how prices can drop for video items over these many years. Now I own all of the Three Stooges shorts on DVD for just $44. ----- Another sideline, back in the late 70's VHS and Betamax machines cost around $1,000, a far cry from the DVD and Blu-Ray recorders only costing less than $100 nowadays. ----- Rusty

I bought a tape ....for about $25. OUCH, an outrageous price compared to today's prices for videos. I have one with 3 shorts for about that price too, ILW. But I had to have 'Violent Is The Word For Curly', because it featured the Alphabet Song that I loved as a kid.

Here's "Swinging the Alphabet" I like the part where the girls sing ---------- www.youtube.com/watch?v=usQem53fDH8 ----- At $35 for the collection, that's great! ----- Rusty ---------------- P.S. after I got home Sunday morning from work at 4 A.M. I had a new E-Mail from Amazon.com offering the Three Stooges Collection for a " mere" $72.66. It's interesting they can charge such prices, when Phil and I can find such bargains other places for The Three Stooges Collection for half the price they want ----- Rusty
