It is one of my all-time favorite Winona films. From the opening scene of the prettiest valedictorian ever to $900 gas card bills, the movie is funny and entertaining and a charming look at young adulthood in the early-mid '90's. A great soundtrack, a classic love triangle, and did I mention Winona is ridiculously gorgeous? I love this movie!

It's also a fave in this house. As some said when they released the 10th anniversary special DVD, the world changed but the emotions and situations these young people go through have not. Funny and witty. And yes that Lainey girl is indeed quite terrific.

I Love "Reality Bites" ---- I bought the movie on DVD back in May 2000. ---- And when the 10th Anniversary Edition was released June 2004, I had to buy that copy also. One of Winona's best performances. ------------ Rusty

This is another one of her movies that was probably underappreciated when it came out, but sure has withstood the test of time!

I like it more today than I did when the movie first came out. And I thought it was pretty good then, although I thought she 'hooked up' with the wrong guy.
Who else here has noticed that Winona's movies seem to stand up very well with the passage of time?

Who else here has noticed that Winona's movies seem to stand up very well with the passage of time? -------------------- I have always felt that. I will hazard a guess that when we are all long gone, Winona Ryder's movies will be just as popular in the far distant future, and loved by the film fans of that time, as they are appreciated by us today. ------- Rusty

Only the future will tell but if that is an indication, I've played several of her movies to students of different ages (from 16 to 35) and different class sizes (up to 31 people once) and the younger ones were quite enthusiastic. It's been a tradition with me for the last three years and I can't remember any remark complaining this or that looked old-fashioned or outdated. "Great balls of fire" and "Reality bites" triggered the most positive reactions then Beetlejuice and Dracula. I played G.I. once to a group of mostly young women (18-25), it took them about ten minutes to recover for most of them were quite tearful (grrrrr <== private joke)

The event commemorates the 50th anniversary of contact with the remains of Terran civilization and the rediscovery of their unique primitive art of photonic projection, a similar form of which existed in Kartikula before it was replaced with the twin innovations of bio-electronic pulse juice and stimuli package implants. Reportedly thanks to an unknown and long-dead terran known only as "Rusty" who worked for an arcane Terran society called the "Winona Ryder Film Page", many of the primitive photonic projections featuring this strangely beautiful terran female survived, found in a time capsule on the "SS Bellerophon", the Terran Ship that entered the Kartikulan Empire 50 years ago.
