More from the Vogue interview, June 1989 ----- At the age of fifteen, Ryder took the part of pale-skinned, black veiled Lydia in Beetlejuice. The role brought out her own sweetly macabre instincts, and the costumes reflected her knack for ferreting out flea-market treasures. "A lot of those clothes were my own clothes. My skin was actually that pale; they didn't have to use a lot of make-up." Today she considers herself more feminine. "In the past year, I've found myself looking at dresses more." She puts down her fork and reaches in the purse again, pulling out a Polaroid of a young woman, head cocked, in a tight-bodiced white dress. On the cusp of sensuality, she is beginning to shed some of the kooky accoutrements of her adolescence, while refining others. She stares at the pictures as if it were another creature. " I haven't really grown into my style yet." she says ------------------ Rusty

QUOTES ON WINONA THROUGHOUT HISTORY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------
A continuation of my series on what figures throughout history might have said for, or to Winona Ryder. I hope this gets younger readers finding out more about some of world history's greatest minds while being entertained with the made-up quotes.
MORE QUOTES ON/FOR WINONA FROM THE MYSTIC EAST!
Jalaluddin Rumi: God is never seen immaterially; and the vision of Him in Winona Ryder is the most perfect of all.
Actual quote: God is never seen immaterially; and the vision of Him in woman is the most perfect of all.
Omay Khayyam
A film of Noni is what thy needs now, A large popcorn, a medium coke--and Thou ...Beside me screening in the cinemas-- Oh, cinemas were Paradise enow!
Actual poem, from The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: A Book of Verses underneath the Bough, A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread--and Thou ...Beside me singing in the Wilderness-- Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!
AND THE PIECE THAT TAKES THE CAKE, NEWLY UNEARTHED CHAPTER OF THE KORAN, THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN IMAM ALI AND THE LADY WINONA!
And the Imam Ali approached the dear Jewish lady Winona, for she was a person of the book as was he, and he told her:
"People often hate those things which they do not know or cannot understand. But if they really paid attention to what happened to you, they would have realized that if you study carefully the cause of an action, you you will know what the effects will be.
That must apply to yourself too, for remember, one who takes account of his shortcomings will always gain by it, one who takes lessons from the happenings of life obtains vision, one who aquires vision becomes wise, and one who attains wisdom achieves knowledge.
Fret not, you have won hearts, for hearts of people are like wild birds, they attach themselves to those who love and train them.
Fret not, for you are of value, the value of each person depends upon the art and skill which he has attained.
Fret not, for you are supreme in your craft. For your supremacy over others is in proportion to the extent of your knowledge and wisdom.
But alas, when this world favors anybody it lends him qualifications, and attributes surpassing merits of others, and when it turns its face away from him it snatches away even his own excellences and fame. That is the lesson you must learn from your encounter with the man of ill repute Lusman, for the world, which offers you vicious pleasures is like a snake, so soft to the touch, but so full of lethal poison.
Adversities as such often bring your good qualities to the front, show them to the world with your deeds and actions. And be patient. Remember, for one who adopts patience will never be deprived of success though the success may take a long time to reach him.
You have helped many, and inspired many, but many return that gratitude not.
If you find that somebody is not grateful for all that you have done for him then do not get disappointed because often you will find that someone else feels under your obligation though you have done nothing for him,
And thus your good deeds will be compensated, and Allah will reward you for your goodness."
And the Lady Winona told the Imam, "I have done everything as you instructed."
And the Imam Ali replied, "Then go forth, for you have none to fear, remember that failures are often results of timidity and fears; disappointments are the results of uncalled-for modesty; hours of leisure pass away like summer clouds, therefore, do not waste the opportunity to make more good movies, and make my face and that of Wolf, and Imayne, and Charles and the rest of your fans at the WRFP glad. Salaam Alaikum."
The above passage is almost composed entirely of actual maxims from the Koran said by the Imam Ali, first male believer in Islam. Out of respect the additions I made were all not derived or altered from the original text of Imam Ali's maxims.

Hi El,
We don't say the kind of rude stuff that you wrote here. You may want to ask yourself if you are at the wrong site. Not promising for your first post . . . again and you're history.

Young actress "Noni's a very nice person, but it has to have been hard for her because she's never had a normal life. Like when somebody suggests something ordinary, like 'Let's have a barbecue,' she gets kind of excited because for her that's something really exotic. If it wasn't for having a cool family, she'd probably have gone crazy by now."

A quote from Marquee --June 1989 -----Winona Ryder may be only 17, but she has her mind made up about a lot of things. "Boys are more susceptiple to seduction." she pronounces when asked about the perils of teen stardom. "They're wimps when it comes to that kind of stuff. They want it all, all of a sudden." -------------- quotes like that make you realize how smart Winona really was at such a tender age, you've got to love Winona Ryder. ----- Rusty

Okay here are some of my findings....... From an interview for the film "Great Balls of Fire" Ryder finally met Myra, when she was invited to attend one of the screenings of the dailies: "I was so nervous. We were showing her some stuff where he was picking her up from school and says, 'I'm gonna marry you.'
"I looked over and she was crying and I was so scared because I didn't know what she was crying about. I didn't know if she was crying because I was a bad actress or that it was so real.
"And then she turned to me and hugged me and said, 'You're a gift from God.' It was probably the most amazing feeling that I've ever had in connection with acting."NiA

Daniel Petrie "A great kid. Very talented, very intelligent. She's got an actor's intelligence - a kind of wisdom about human relationships that serves her in very good stead when she's dealing with the psychology of the character she's playing and the psychology of the characters against whom she's playing."

The crew is setting up. Myra's pet poodle, Peaches, bedecked in pink ribbons, is curled obediently in a basket. A prop guy carries Myra's miniature dollhouse into her house; a neat visual pun. "I want people on the set. there's a wedding about to happen," bellows co-writer and associate producer Jack Baran. Winona Ryder materializes on the threshold between the living room and a room where a baby grand dominates the black-and-white checkered floor. She has black hair, porcelain skin, and wide-set eyes so large they almost look kitsch. Decked out in pearled white - a short brocade dress, a pillbox hat, and gloves - she resembles a tiny Jackie Kennedy. Dennis "the Killer" Quaid, resplendent in a jacket with leopard collar and cuffs, his hair marcelled until it looks like gold lamé, sidles up to her; she barely reaches his shoulder. The two stars rub noses.
" D a ring, please." Hams Quaid. "With this ring, I thee wed and my worldly goods I do endow," he pronounces.
"Fat chance," says director Jim McBride, and the crew cracks up.
That's exactly what people might have said about 17-year-old Ryder landing this role. It's a part to kill for; a rock 'n' roll Lolita to Quaid's piano-pumping Humbert Humbert in the tale of a real-life scandalous romance. "Emily Lloyd was originally a consideration, but she wasn't available," says McBride. "I'd never seen Winona's work. But then she walked in the door, and we all just sort of fell down. She was perfectly Myra."

"It's amazing that Winona can be so sophisticated yet so unaffected," says McBride. "She's just so charming and seductive, she's impossible to resist. What can you say about someone you've fallen for? In a totally sanitary way. She's very sexy without seeming to be somebody who has a lot of sexual experience." By now Ryder has wrapped her arms around McBride's neck. "But it's not as though she doesn't understand the kind of effect she has on a guy," say McBride, smiling.

An AWESOME quote by Noni's mom: "Noni wore the most inconsistent get-ups, yet on her they looked great," says her mother, Cindy Horowitz. "She had her own style, which she had no intention of altering." As a kid, she'd go to San Francisco Giants baseball games wearing a cap of the archrival Dodgers and be quite surprised when rabid fans doused her with beer. "She has a sense of identity that's pure and more self-confident than anyone else in the family, including her father and myself," say Cindy. "I realized it when she was three or four. She went through materials so fast -- drawing supplies, toys, books -- you had to keep giving her stuff to keep her interested. She'd just consume them." Totally Awesome of our Lady !!! NiA

Another quote from Marquee, June 1989 ----- Ryder bites into her midmorning snack of bagel and cream cheese and ponders her career to date. "I'm not famous", she says. "It's weird. I don't know what I am. I'd love to be able to read a script and say, 'I want to do this' and have it happen - or call up a restaurant and say, 'I want dinner in an hour ' and have them get me a table." ---------- I love that quote from our Winona ------ Rusty

Aintitcool.com site owner Harry Knowles on his meeting with Noni at the Alien: Resurrection premiere:
"After the film was over, I was mortified, how would I respond if someone asked me. Would I just play politics and say, "great, I loved it, Best one yet." or would I speak my mind? I was kinda in a daze, and I remember turning around to look to see where Dad was, when I bumped into Winona Ryder, ACK!!!! CHOKE!!! GASP!!!!! Coooool. She is everybit as beautiful in person as you have seen in film. And I was a bit shocked back to reality. Instead of staying behind her and gawking, I decided to move around her to get out before the inevitable crush of schmoozers blocked everyone's way."
