Oh, that is just too wild!!! Generous to a fault . . . Chas . ------- It is great to hear things about how Winona really is such a sweet person. --------------------- (Another quote) Michelle Pheiffer, Winona's co-star in "The Age of Innocence, recalls how she convinced Ryder and Cher to take a sculpting class. ---- "When the class arranged for a male model to pose nude. I can't tell you how many shades of red Winona turned. As soon as the model walks out in his robe and takes it off, Winona turns scarlett and starts giggling uncontrollably for twenty minutes. She has to move to the back of the class." ------------- That's a cute story. Rusty

Hi Lia and Nia! So-so, interesting, interesting. ;D So Lia´s competitor for NiA is Winona Ryder? I think SHE is not easy to beat, Lia, hehe. But does Winona Ryder know that she fights against Lia? I am not sure about it, hehe. . . ;D

Another qoute, ---- Janeane Garofalo on "Regular Girl" Ryder, ----- "She'd sit in her trailer and eat all kinds of junk food and drink Coke and doesn't try to glam up. She's a poster girl of every Trekkie computer nerd and athlete too. She's so gorgeous that she crosses over." --------- A great quote. Rusty

Hi Lia! Isn´t Tai-Chi just for relaxing? Or is it also something like Karate or Jiu-Jitsu or something like that? I am not an expert for that kinds of sports, sorry. But as far as I know Tai-Chi is more a kind of meditation than a fighting sport, or?

www.google.com.gr/search?q=tai-chi&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=el&meta=I know it's a martial art. Ryder's not daunted. Slim as filigree, she's gone on a high-powered exercise regimen to prepare for slaughtering space monsters alongside Sigourney Weaver, who is reprising the character of Ripley. "I'm training six hours a day, six days a week," Ryder says, "because I don't want to be the only one gasping on the starship. It's exhausting, but it also helps me to vent - especially the martial-arts stuff. My instructor says I'm a natural." She gives a proud smile. "It's all very technical, you know. Block, jab, jab, hook, jab, jab, block - pow! I love it. "When they first mentioned doing the movie, I almost jumped out of my seat," she says. "You see, my whole family is obsessed with Alien. My brother Jubal runs a comicbook store, and one wall is covered with Alien paraphernalia. I must have been about nine when I saw the original because we were still living on the commune. And I wanted to be Ripley. She was the first woman action hero, and she's still one of the greatest women's roles. I had to do it."

Okay, Lia, thank you. But didn´t she do the Tai-Chi only for the preparation for "Alien 4" or is she still doing this martial art? I have always thought it was just for Alien 4.

Yes she did it for Alien 4,she continue it for a while after i guess. But mostly she prefers stretching. ;D

I'll bet you're right!!! ;D It does make sense that stretching and the meditative practice of Tai Chi would fit Winona more than a demanding martial arts regimen.
Cheers, Charles

In her own words
And besides, it sure beats working out with a trainer six hours a day to beef up for her part in Alien: Resurrection, in which she will have to keep up with Sigourney Weaver.
"I guess it's called cross-training," she says curiously, sounding as if it were a recent invention and kind of a shady practice at that. "I don't think I'm cut out to do that kind of training. I just don't have that type of body. I'm really small. I have a weird metabolism. Muscles look strange on me."
