I haven't tried plugging a movie in a long time, and I can't believe I wanna plug a Disney movie here, but here you go.
This was supposed to be Disney's adaptation of Andersen's "The Snow Queen", but I give kudos to the film for turning it into a Fairy Tale that is in part even darker, yet more joyous than the Andersen original.
So there, you have heard it. I don't want to tell you the plot, I don't want you to go in with any spoilers because this movie offers so many subversions of past Disney formula that storytelling wise it may be the best non-Pixar Disney animated feature I have seen in SEVENTEEN YEARS.
If you have kids or family, please see this with them when and if you can. If not, even see it alone. I know Disney deserves a lot of the flak they get and some of the accusations that its product are for the lowest common denominator are not entirely unjustified. Yet at their best, their sheer artistry can evoke the feeling that beauty, wonder and happiness is inevitable in life just about better than anyone else.
I give it an "Excellent". It just lacks that extra something that makes it a landmark.
But don't take my word for it, listen to the little nine year old girl inside me that was brought to life by this movie.
Why should they all see this movie, inner nine year old girl?
!!!!BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL MOVIE ABOUT TWO SISTERS WHO LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH AND WHO AFTER YEARS OF SEPARATION BECOME AS GOOD FRIENDS AS THEY USED TO BE AND WHOSE LOVE IS STRONG ENOUGH TO TRIUMPH OVER EVERYTHING!!!! MOMMY PLEASE BUY ME AN OLAF! I PROMISE I WON'T DO SNEAK INTO JEANNIE'S ROOM TO COLOR HER DIARY WITH HER LIPSTICK EVER AGAIN, MOMMY! PLEASE!!!!
Thanks very much. So there, I hope you have it and can leave your comments here.
