Some History of WRFP
In the early internet years the "Winona Ryder Film Page" (WRFP) was created in the 1990s by "Keane," an Australian fellow. He kept the "main page" going for several years until, at some point, he lost interest and largely abandoned it. In swooped hoards of trolls who wrecked the page. When I found the page about twenty years ago, it was a horrid place, but I took it upon myself to fight back. Over time, I drove the trolls away and decided I would be interested in taking up the mantle and running WRFP. I purchased it from Keane.
During the era after Winona's shoplifting affair, again, out came the trolls. But here at WRFP we remained true to the lady and supported her. During Winona's "quiet period" we were at our most popular, rated at the top of search engine algorithms. Starting about ten years ago, many new sites and pages took an interest in Winona and we were eclipsed by the better, more actively-run pages, especially those with extensive photo archives. Clearly, much of the interest in Winona was driven by fans wanting the latest images of her.
Over the last ten years, several other factors diminished our effectiveness. First, I became less involved. I'm a Boston-based architect and in 2007 I began working (and living) first in Washington D.C. and then in Toronto Ontario. During this period I had much less time available for WRFP and Rusty (ILoveWinona) really stepped forward and took a leadership role in managing the page. However, after many years at WRFP Rusty left in 2014. This was around the time that I retired and I didn't recommit myself to the active promotion of the page. Also round this time, I lost the "main page" of WRFP that was hosted from Australia, leaving only this current "forum" page. During the last 4 years our viewership has declined further and that is where we are today.
